What Sets Our Telehealth Apart

Explore Your Virtual Treatment Experience

PHP Virtual (9am–3:30pm)

Our most intensive level delivered via secure video — full-day structured programming including group therapy, individual sessions, and medication management, all from the comfort of your home.

IOP Virtual (3 Tracks)

Morning, afternoon, or evening tracks available — 3.5-hour sessions, 3-4 days per week. Perfect for maintaining work, school, or family commitments while receiving evidence-based treatment.

OP Virtual (Weekly)

Weekly outpatient sessions via video for ongoing support and relapse prevention. Ideal for step-down from IOP or clients needing lighter-touch continued care with professional guidance.

HIPAA-Compliant Platform

Our secure video platform meets all HIPAA requirements for privacy and confidentiality. Encrypted connections, secure messaging, and digital resources — accessible from any device with internet.

Same Therapeutic Programming

Virtual clients receive the same evidence-based therapies as in-person — CBT, DBT, ACT, group therapy, individual therapy, and medication management. No reduction in clinical quality.

Virtual Medication Management

Meet with our Nurse Practitioner via telehealth for medication evaluation and ongoing MAT support. Suboxone, Vivitrol, and Naltrexone options available — managed entirely through virtual visits.

Log In & Connect

Your virtual day begins with a simple, secure login from any device. Join your group from your home, office, or wherever you feel most comfortable. Our platform is designed for ease of use — no complicated software or technical expertise required.

Virtual Group Therapy

Engage in evidence-based group therapy sessions via video — CBT, DBT, ACT, and psychoeducation groups facilitated by the same licensed clinicians who lead our in-person programming. Interactive breakout rooms and screen-sharing tools keep sessions collaborative and engaging.

Skills Workshop & Break

After a scheduled break to recharge, you'll join skills-focused workshops covering relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and coping strategies. These interactive sessions use digital worksheets and resources you can access anytime through your patient portal.

Individual Sessions & Digital Resources

Scheduled one-on-one sessions with your therapist happen via private video call. Between sessions, you have 24/7 access to digital recovery resources, secure messaging with your care team, and self-guided exercises to reinforce what you're learning in programming.

1

Remote Clients

Live outside Salem, NH but need access to quality treatment? Telehealth removes geographic barriers so you can receive evidence-based care from anywhere in New Hampshire or Massachusetts.

2

Transportation Challenges

No car? Unreliable transit? Don't let transportation be the reason you can't access treatment. Virtual sessions mean your living room becomes your treatment space — no commute required.

3

Immunocompromised Individuals

For clients with health conditions that make in-person attendance risky, telehealth provides a safe alternative without sacrificing the quality or intensity of your treatment programming.

4

Busy Professionals

Balance recovery with your career through flexible virtual scheduling. Evening IOP sessions and virtual outpatient appointments fit around your work commitments — no need to choose between your job and your health.

5

Rural NH & MA Residents

Quality addiction and mental health treatment shouldn't depend on your zip code. Our telehealth programs bring Trailhead's full clinical team to rural communities across both states.

6

Hybrid Flexibility Seekers

Prefer a mix? Attend some sessions in-person at our Salem facility and others virtually. The hybrid model gives you the best of both worlds — community connection plus convenience.

Your Virtual Recovery Journey

Telehealth Treatment Phases

Phase 1: Virtual Assessment Phase 2: Program Start Phase 3: Active Treatment Phase 4: Transition & Support

Virtual Assessment

Your telehealth journey begins with an online intake and clinical assessment — all conducted via secure video. Our team verifies your insurance, helps you set up the technology, and determines the right level of virtual care for your needs and goals.

Program Start

A virtual orientation introduces you to the platform, your clinical team, and your peers. You'll meet your primary therapist, case manager, and group facilitators — then begin programming right away with your first virtual sessions.

Active Treatment

Engage in daily or weekly virtual sessions depending on your program level. Evidence-based group therapy, individual sessions, skills workshops, and medication management — all delivered through secure video with progress monitored by your care team.

Transition & Support

As you progress, your team coordinates step-down options — moving from PHP to IOP, IOP to OP, or transitioning to alumni support. Continued virtual access ensures your recovery network stays strong even after completing your program.

Common Questions

Answers About Telehealth

What telehealth programs does Trailhead offer?
We offer all three program levels virtually: PHP (Partial Hospitalization, 9am-3:30pm), IOP (Intensive Outpatient, with morning, afternoon, and evening tracks), and standard Outpatient (weekly sessions). Each delivers the same evidence-based therapies as our in-person programs — CBT, DBT, ACT, group therapy, individual therapy, and medication management.
Is virtual treatment as effective as in-person?
Research consistently shows that telehealth addiction and mental health treatment achieves comparable outcomes to in-person care. Our virtual clients receive the same clinical team, same evidence-based curriculum, and same individualized attention. Many clients actually report higher engagement because they can attend from a comfortable, familiar environment.
What technology do I need for telehealth?
You'll need a device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer) and a stable internet connection. Our platform works in any modern web browser — no special software downloads required. Our team will help you test your setup before your first session to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Can I switch between virtual and in-person?
Yes — our hybrid model is one of our biggest advantages. You can attend some sessions at our Salem, NH facility and others virtually, mixing and matching based on your schedule, health, or preference. Many clients start fully virtual and transition to hybrid as they progress, or vice versa.
Is telehealth covered by insurance?
Yes — most insurance plans now cover telehealth services at the same rate as in-person treatment. We accept Anthem BCBS, Point 32 (Harvard Pilgrim + Tufts), Tricare, Uprise Health, and WellSense NH Medicaid for virtual programming. Call us at (857) 312-1697 for a free insurance verification specific to telehealth coverage.
How does virtual group therapy work?
Virtual group sessions are conducted via secure video with the same licensed facilitators who lead our in-person groups. You'll see and interact with your peers in real time, participate in discussions, and complete collaborative exercises. Breakout rooms allow for smaller group work, and digital worksheets are shared through our secure platform.
Can I receive MAT through telehealth?
Yes — our Nurse Practitioner provides medication evaluations and ongoing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) management via telehealth. Options include Suboxone, Vivitrol, and Naltrexone. Prescriptions can be sent electronically to your local pharmacy, and follow-up appointments happen through virtual visits.
What states can you serve via telehealth?
Trailhead is dually licensed in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, so we can provide telehealth services to clients residing in either state. Whether you're in rural northern NH, the Merrimack Valley, the Boston metro area, or anywhere in between — if you're in NH or MA, we can serve you virtually.
How is my privacy protected during virtual sessions?
Our telehealth platform is fully HIPAA-compliant with end-to-end encryption for all video sessions, messaging, and file sharing. We recommend you attend sessions from a private space where you won't be overheard. All the same confidentiality protections that apply to in-person treatment apply to our virtual services.
How do I get started with telehealth treatment?
Call us at (857) 312-1697 or complete our online form. Our admissions team will verify your insurance for telehealth coverage, conduct a virtual clinical assessment, help you set up the technology, and get you into programming within 24-48 hours. The entire process — from first call to first session — happens without you leaving home.
