Mental health conditions exist on a spectrum. You don’t need to be in crisis to deserve support — but recognizing where you are can help determine the right level of care.
If any of these resonated, our clinical team can help determine the right level of care. No substance use diagnosis is required.

Multiple levels of care designed to meet you where you are. Step up or down as your progress evolves — each chapter builds on the last. No substance use diagnosis is required for any program.
Our most intensive outpatient level. Full-day programming with psychiatric assessments, group therapy, individual sessions, holistic activities, and daily lunch. The foundation for meaningful change when mental health symptoms are significantly impacting your life.
A structured step-down from PHP. Continued group therapy and individual sessions with more flexibility for work, school, or family. Morning, afternoon, or evening tracks available.
Designed for working adults who can’t attend daytime programming. The same evidence-based IOP curriculum, delivered in the evening so you don’t have to choose between getting help and maintaining your career.
Step-down support for continued progress. Less intensive than IOP but maintains therapeutic continuity with weekly groups and individual sessions as you build stability in your daily life.
Full access to our programming from anywhere. HIPAA-compliant video sessions for groups, individual therapy, and psychiatric consultations — ideal for those with transportation barriers or scheduling constraints.
Our on-site Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric evaluations, medication prescribing, and ongoing medication management. Antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anxiolytics, and other psychiatric medications — all coordinated with your therapy plan.

If you are reading this, you are probably worried about someone you love. Maybe they’ve been withdrawing. Maybe the depression has gotten worse. Maybe the anxiety has taken over their life in ways you never expected. That worry is a sign of something good — it means you haven’t given up. And we want you to know: you shouldn’t.
Mental illness is a medical condition, not a character flaw. The person you knew before the symptoms took hold is still there. But they may need professional help to find their way back — and you may need guidance too.
Start by educating yourself. Learn about their specific condition — depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or whatever they’re facing. Understand that it’s not something they can simply “snap out of,” and that telling them to “just think positive” can actually make things worse. Validate their experience instead.
Offer specific help, not vague support. Instead of “Let me know if you need anything,” try “I found a mental health program in Salem that could help — can we look at it together?” or “I’ll drive you to your first appointment.” Concrete offers reduce the overwhelming feeling of taking that first step.
Take care of yourself, too. Consider therapy, NAMI family support groups, or our monthly family education groups on Zoom. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Trailhead offers individual family therapy sessions and ongoing family support — for all family members ages 18 and up, past and present clients.
Resistance to mental health treatment is common. Stigma, fear, and the illness itself can all create barriers. It doesn’t mean recovery is impossible — it means a different approach may be needed. Below, our clinical team answers the questions families ask most.
Our family support program is open to all family members ages 18+, past and present clients.

PHP clients attend Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. A typical day includes group therapy (CBT, DBT, or ACT), an individual session with your assigned clinician, psychoeducation, holistic activities like breathwork or yoga, and lunch. You go home each evening — this is outpatient treatment, not residential.
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) is full-day treatment, typically 5–6 hours per day, 5 days a week. IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) is a step-down offering 3–4 hours per day with more scheduling flexibility — morning, afternoon, or evening tracks. Both include group and individual therapy. Most clients start in PHP and transition to IOP as they progress.
